What is included?
The JetBlue carry-on policy, checked September 21, 2026, includes one carry-on and one personal item on all fares. It currently sets no carry-on weight limit, but you need to be able to lift the bag into the bin if help is unavailable and it will not fit under the seat. Personal items go under the seat in front.

Wheels and handles count. For a trip involving JetBlue and American, JetBlue directs passengers to the confirmation email and recommends checking both airlines’ limits. Use your actual itinerary rather than assuming that all legs follow this table.
Does the bag you own fit?
- Fill all pockets as for the journey, close the bag and set its expansion zip.
- Measure the three outside dimensions at the widest points, including handles and wheels.
- Match the result to carry-on or personal item using consistent units.
- Repeat the comparison for every airline on the trip and resolve uncertainty before departure.
Width example: a bag actually measuring 36 cm wide is 0.44 cm wider than JetBlue’s listed 35.56 cm. The result does not tell you whether staff will measure it; it tells you that a “36 cm” label is not evidence of compliance. Measure the packed bag rather than relying on a retailer’s rounded description.
Conversion example: 17 inches converts exactly to 43.18 cm, while JetBlue prints 43.2 cm for the personal item. Its table mixes precise and rounded conversions. Decimal places do not make this airline’s figures a universal rule for other carriers.
A bag’s litre capacity is also insufficient: two bags of equal capacity can have different widths and depths. Do not replace a usable bag merely because another airline’s maximum-sized box would be too large; compare your own measurements.
Before handing a bag over
A carry-on entitlement does not reserve overhead space. Keep documents and essentials accessible, and ask staff how to handle batteries before checking a bag.
